Ysleta ISD will once again offer free Pre-K at 15 schools for the 2017-2018 school year that will be open to all El Paso-area families free of cost, including those who typically don’t qualify for free pre-kindergarten programs or live outside YISD boundaries.
Pre-K enrollment at YISD will be conducted on a first-come, first-served basis, with registration taking place from April 24 - 28 at all participating YISD campuses. Interested parents must pick up and fill out a registration packet from the school or Pre-K center of their choice. There are a limited number of slots open at each participating campus, so parents are advised to sign up their children as soon as possible. Parents will be notified of available slot. For online registration start HERE.
Our purpose is to provide a support system for the implementation of research-based instruction and best practices that guide children academically, socially, and emotionally.
The program is designed to promote children’s knowledge and skills in all developmental areas— cognitive, social/emotional, physical, and aesthetic—and to establish a foundation for lifelong learning.
The prekindergarten program reflects the belief that children are active learners. They build meaning and understanding through full participation in their learning environments. This child-centered program combines high expectations for each child with respect for individual development.
Prekindergarten uses the center approach to learning. Centers are areas with educational materials that provide opportunities for different types of learning during Work Time. Learning Centers are pre-planned by the teacher to support the skills that are previously taught. A writing component is embedded within each center.
