Points of Pride
Edgemere Elementary School is continuing a tradition of excellence that started when it opened its doors in 1963. Last year, the school earned five out of five possible distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, including distinctions in academic achievement in both reading and science.
Edgemere was also one of ten Ysleta ISD schools named to the Texas 2015 Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). Schools receiving this award have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
Edgemere provides a dual language options for students starting kindergarten which will teach them to be bilingual in English and Spanish. Our dual language students also receive daily Chinese instruction.
Edgemere offers many clubs and after-school programs for our students including folklorico dance, double dutch and chess. We also hold many events for our families and community members throughout the school year.
Edgemere Elementary Vision Statement: Edgemere Elementary, a professional learning community, will ensure the academic, social and physical development of all students in a safe and respectful environment.
Dear Edgemere Elementary Parents and Community,
As principal of Edgemere Elementary, it is with great pleasure to welcome everyone back for another great year. It is our mission to help every child feel safe, welcomed and give them hope for a brighter future.
We look forward again to a productive partnership with you to ensure that our children achieve their highest potential. We ask that you guide and support your child’s learning by ensuring that he/she:
- Attends school daily and arrives on time, ready for the day’s learning experience
- Completes all homework assignments given by teachers
- Reads daily to develop a love for reading and to improve literacy skills
- Shares school experiences with you so that you are aware of his/her school life
- Informs you if he/she needs additional support in any area or subject
- Knows that you expect him/her to succeed in school and go on to college
If you have any questions about the rules and expectations, please feel free to contact me or to discuss them with your child’s teacher.
The wonderful Edgemere staff and I feel privileged to be a part of this school family. We thank you for your support and look forward to meeting you.
