Points of Pride

  • Welcome to the Mesa Vista Leopard family!

Mesa Vista Elementary School is a small gem located in El Paso's lower valley. Since excellence is our priority, our students are held to high standards. We are known for our consistency in following the 3 B's: Be Safe, Be Respectful, Be Responsible. We are proud to be in the Bel Air feeder pattern, as our students will continue to be future Warriors at the new Bel Air Middle School and Highlanders at Bel Air High School.

We are the proud recipients of several distinctions. In 2015, we received Academic Achievement distinction in Reading. In 2016, we received Academic Achievement in Science and Top 25% Closing Performance Gaps distinctions, proving that we believe all students can learn.

The Ysleta Independent School District's recent Engage Me! initiative has provided all of our 3rd-6th grade students a chromebook that will be used to provided extended learning for our students, helping to prepare them with essential 21st century skills. Our teachers are using Google apps, like Google Classroom, to engage our learners, encourage collaboration, and enhance their critical thinking.

We are the first school to have an annual PBIS Behavior Bowl (held in January) and PBIS March Madness (held in March) competitions. These competitions consist of students competing within their grade levels and the winning teams get a chance to represent their grade level in the final event, while the entire school cheers them on. All students who participate must show their consistency in following the three B's throughout the year.

  • Mesa Vista's First Annual Cancer Relay for Life!

Come join Student Council as they sponsor our first Cancer Relay to raise awareness and honor those who have fought or are fighting the battle against cancer. All profits will be donated to MD Anderson to continue research and support families in need of medical care.

The event will include an opening ceremony, a survivor's walk, and open run/walk to all who wish to participate, and culminate with a "Never Give Up" slideshow. There will be concessions, face painting, a jumping balloon, and a photo booth. Sports bottles, luminarias, awareness braceletes, necklaces, and lanyards will be for sale.

We hope to see you here on Oct. 7th from 5-7 pm on the Mesa Vista Soccer Field.

We would like to give a big Leopard welcome to our interim principal, Mrs. Maria Zamora! She will be here while Mrs. Karns is out spending quality bonding time with her new baby boy. We know we're in good hands as she has countless years of experience being a principal. Welcome to the Leopard family, Mrs. Zamora!
