A Message from the Principal
1. Students First
As a servant leader, I will make decisions based on student priority; what is in the best interest of students will always be at the root of all decision-making. At Bel Air High School, we will be committed to achieving student success propelled by strong leadership and innovative instructional strategies.
I will be visible in the classrooms, hallways, and events on a consistent basis. Building relationships is important to me and therefore it is my priority to be close to the teaching and learning. I want students, parents, and teachers to know that I am fully vested in being close to the action.
3. Community Connections
Our community is a direct link to our past, present, and future. I am committed to engaging the community in a variety of ways to include supporting our Volunteer Program, Coffee with the Principal, establishing a Principal’s Community Cabinet, and maintaining consistent communication in a variety of forms. I will strive to earn the community’s support and trust. We are stronger united.
4. The Importance of Listening; Purposeful Talk
I will listen to the needs of all stakeholders. I realize that the biggest respect you pay a person is to listen. I will make it a point to meet one on one with staff members, students, parents, and will continue to encourage direct dialogue. I will implement “Coffee with the Principal,” in which parents can sit down and chat with me about our school.
5. Safe Schools are Great Schools
I will work towards creating the safest learning environment. Our school will consistently practice safety drills and utilize proactive safeguards. Bullying will not be tolerated. We will build character and educate our students on social/emotional issues.
6. Framing My Vision
My views will be clear, consistent, and communicated to all. It is important for the Bel Air Community to understand my vision for the campus.
7. Recognize and Reinforce
I will work with all staff members in order to motivate and build courageous leaders. I will provide opportunities for staff to continue to improve their professional development. It is also important to me to recognize and reinforce our staff; great work deserves praise.
8. Big Red Pride
Traditions will be embraced and continued. I will be an advocate for our campus and district. I will do my very best to enhance the reputation of our campus and community. I strive to continue to make Bel Air the pride of the community.
9. Building Tomorrow’s Leaders Today
Although standardized test are a high priority, I will remember that our goal is to build tomorrow’s leaders. Leaders learn many important lessons that are not just on a test. These lessons will enrich the lives of students and help create those courageous leaders that our society needs. We will enforce scholarly behavior, walking with purpose, and GRIT.
10. I Will be Accountable
I believe in the importance of life-long learning. As a leader, I promise to continue to learn and grow in order to build my own leadership capacity in order to be the very best principal.
