History
Loma Terrace Elementary has been a staple in the Ysleta Independent School District for over 65 years. Loma Terrace has highly qualified teachers and offers Pre-K through 5th grade, monolingual and dual-language education. Loma Terrace is headed by the excellent leadership of Principal, Mr. James McIntyre and Assistant Principals, Mrs. Sandra Nava & Mrs. Valerie Chavez.
Strong Core Curriculum
Loma Terrace Elementary School has a strong core curriculum in the areas of language arts, science, social studies, and math. Students are taught art, music, and physical education weekly by teachers trained and certified in those areas. Students attend monthly classes in Project Based Learning, which involves a dynamic classroom approach where students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. 5th grade students are offered band, orchestra, or art as an elective.Extracurricular Activities
Our campus also offers our students additional ways to be involved in learning, leadership, and community service. Clubs such as Robotics, Kindness, eSports and Student Council are offered once a week after school. Gifted and talented students attend regular Team Quest competitions and other adventurous field trips.
Engage Me Initiative
Through the Engage Me Initiative, Kinder-5th grade students were each provided with a Chromebook that is used for extended learning, helping our Lions to prepare them with the essential 21st century skills. Pre-K students are each provided with iPads! Loma Terrace teachers are utilizing Google Classroom to set up classes, invite students and co-teachers, where they can share information, assignments, and communicate.
Committed Teachers, Staff, & Leadership
Loma Terrace is a school with committed teachers, staff, and exceptional leadership that puts students first to ensure EVERY LION is successful!
