School Vision: Ysleta Elementary has a collective commitment to provide a personalized learning experience in a 21st century environment where scholars utilize critical thinking, communication, collaboration and commitment to achieving their academic and non-academic goals.
Dear Ysleta Elementary School Family,
My name is Amy Bejarano-Alarcon and I am truly humbled to serve as your new Principal. I am coming back to the Ysleta area after 3 years in middle school, but my history in this community dates back to the 1980s and 90s. My mom was a teacher at Capistrano for 31 years before retiring. I went to school just a few minutes from here at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel from kindergarten through 8th grade, and Ysleta High School was where I began my career in administration, so I am very familiar with this incredible area of the valley. I am a product of the Ysleta Independent School District and graduated from Riverside High School in 2002. I began my career in YISD 17 years ago as a teacher back at my alma mater, Riverside High.
After 9 years in the science classroom and as a volleyball coach, I moved into administration and proudly served across the street at Ysleta High School for 4 years before being named principal at Del Valle Middle School in 2019. In March of 2020, during my first year as principal, we entered the COVID pandemic and it took nearly 1 year before students and teachers would be reunited face-to-face in our schools. I commend each and every one of our teachers and staff who have been in education these last few years learning new technology and finding ways to help students grow and succeed in spite of the changing world! I am proud of all the growth seen by Ysleta Elementary during the 2021-2022 school year!
I’m privileged to work alongside the faculty and staff and Ysleta Elementary because they have built an amazing reputation as a campus that loves kids and does whatever it takes to reach them and teach them. I thank the recent principals who came before me - Ms. Perez and Ms. Osuna - for their dedication to our YES family. The campus’s high attendance rate last year shows how much students want to be here and how much families trust our teachers and staff to care for their children. It brings me joy to get to be part of the school that brought blended learning to life and created a new generation of learners driven by personal goals and motivated to achieve more.
I welcome input this year from all our stakeholders (faculty, staff, students, parents, and community members) as we work together toward our shared vision of what Ysleta Elementary is all about. I am ready to be BOLD, be COURAGEOUS, and work with my YES family to make sure we are THE CHANGE needed for our Warriors’ success! Working together, we will all keep pushing the bar of excellence higher and higher. I am blessed to have this opportunity to join the Warrior Family.
At Ysleta Elementary we say YES!!
You are important!
Everything Counts!
Scholars we are!
