Parkland Pre-K Center
The Parkland Pre-K Center takes pride in offering a comprehensive Full Day Pre-K program, making it accessible to all eligible families. Operating as a Pre-STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) campus, we are dedicated to nurturing well-rounded development. Through collaboration with neighboring campuses in the northeast feeder area, students and teachers create enriching experiences for diverse learners. Our devoted educators ensure a secure learning environment that facilitates smooth transitions from home life to school routines, aiding the progression from Pre-K to Kindergarten.
Our Parkland Pre-K College Fair is distinctive as it is entirely student-led, with students researching universities and presenting their findings to their peers.
A noteworthy event is the Parkland's Pre-K Author Celebration and Gala, where students take the role of published authors, showcasing their literary works and participating in book-signing events.
Driven by student leadership, the Pre-K Torito Leaders Academy empowers young learners to take charge of their educational journeys. As young leaders, they serve on our young student school council to meet with the school principal to make decisions.
Our "Lead by Example" initiative highlights students who demonstrate exceptional social skills, celebrating their positive influence within our learning community.
At Parkland Pre-K, we actively encourage and promote parental involvement by providing various opportunities for parents to engage and learn alongside their children at school. Throughout the year, we host special events such as
-
Orientation Day,
-
Grandparent's Day,
-
Parent-Teacher Nights,
-
Blast-Off To Reading Recognitions,
-
Military Recognition,
-
Growth Parades,
-
Winter Wonderland and
-
Awards Assemblies.
We also hold Empowering Parents Celebrations to recognize and celebrate the invaluable role parents play in their child's education.
Our curriculum places a strong emphasis on pre-reading skills, particularly phonological awareness. During the crucial preschool years, children develop their ability to recognize and manipulate the smaller sound units within spoken words, such as syllables and phonemes. At Parkland Pre-K, our dedicated teachers and teacher assistants create a supportive and encouraging environment where students actively engage in activities that promote and strengthen these essential pre-reading skills. Focusing on phonological awareness lays a solid foundation for literacy and reading readiness, ensuring that our students are well-prepared for their educational journey ahead.
