    The YISD Safe Schools Program is a community-wide effort to ensure pupils, parents, personnel and partners who visit our schools and District facilities are safe and secure. The program is built on the five pillars of Emergency Management: Mitigation, Protection, Preparedness, Response, and Recovery.

    Campus Safety Drill Calendar

    Drill Type               Fall 2017               Spring 2018
    Evacuation              September              May
    Lockdown               October                   January
    Severe Weather      November                February
    Shelter-in-Place      December                March

    The calendar is a recommendation and lists only the minimum number of drills required in YISD.  Principals may request that additional drills be operated for their campus.  The Texas Fire Marshal requires that every public K-12 school conduct a fire drill every month from September - May.
