Why are we moving 6th graders to middle school?
Decisions are always based on the best interest of students. Middle school is such a critical time in a child’s educational journey. This is the perfect time for students to be exposed to a variety of experiences and opportunities that will help them flourish and become college and career ready. The additional time in middle school will help students develop meaningful relationships with their peers and teachers. Teachers serve as advocates for students to help guide them through their adolescent years. In addition, based on data, students who attend a 3-year middle school setting outperform their peers who attend a 7-8 middle school campus. We are also very proud of our facilities that will accommodate and align the structures at the middle school.

What systems and procedures are in place to keep my child safe from students in grade 7 and 8?
Middle school campuses follow the small learning communities concept. This family-oriented culture allows students to build rapport and relationships to support one another. Advisory classes are a critical component for middle school students. This class allows students to build a community within grade levels so that there is a level of respect and support among peers. Team meetings among faculty are conducted on a monthly basis to pre-teach skills and expectations such as safety protocols, and treating everyone with kindness, in order to help all students be successful in and out of the classroom.
Each grade level will be housed in a separate area; however, students will interact with all grade levels during transitions and possibly during elective classes.
