• Advanced Placement Overview

The Ysleta Independent School District is committed to offering Advanced Placement courses that prepare students for college success. The College Board Advanced Placement program gives students the opportunity to tackle college-level work while in high school, and by taking AP Exams, students can earn college credit and placement.   Research shows that the rigor of a student’s high school curriculum is the single best predictor of college success and that students who take an Advanced Placement exam in grade 9 are twice as likely to earn a qualifying score in subsequent Advanced Placement exams.  Students earn college credit by scoring a three or higher on the AP Exam.  Parents and students are encouraged to check the requirements of the university that the student plans to attend to learn about their AP Score requirements.  Advanced Placement courses at YISD are open to all students.  Students are encouraged to enroll in Pre-AP courses to help prepare them to be successful in Advanced Placement.
