Tierra del Sol Elementary School is an A-rated with 4 distinction designations campus. We are recognized as the top 10 elementary schools in El Paso County by Niche, a leading platform connecting students and families with schools. These results are based on the analysis of key statistics and reviews from families using data from the U.S. Department of Education. For more information, please visit https://www.niche.com/k12/search/best-public-elementary-schools/c/el-paso-county-tx/.
Our students are challenged academically with rigor and relevance. All students are well known by the faculty and administration. Pre-Kinder thru 5th have 1:1 computing, allowing teachers and students to leverage new opportunities for personalized instruction and learning. Students in 3rd-5th are expected to use these devices both in and out of class — to read, write, create, communicate, collaborate and research.
Programs
At Tierra del Sol, we believe that extra-curricular activities are just as important as academics. From kindergarten to 4th grade, our students attend a weekly art class. Our fifth-grade students are able to choose between band, choir, art or orchestra for daily enrichment.
Extra Curricular Activities
Gifted and Talented
Ysleta Independent School District’s Gifted and Talented program is committed to providing exemplary educational opportunities that recognize the unique, social, emotional and intellectual needs of gifted and talented students. The Ysleta Independent School District is committed to serving the unique needs of intellectually gifted students from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds through an array of qualitatively different learning opportunities. Identified students will demonstrate the ability to interpret and evaluate information; use the process of inquiry to solve problems and abstract concepts. Students function in a total learning environment, make choices based on data collection and interpretation, self-knowledge of needs and interests, assume responsibility for choices and decisions, and work effectively with others to solve problems.
Volunteer Program
We encourage parents and community members to participate in our volunteer program to help meet the needs of our students and campus. With the help of our volunteers, our school events have been a huge success. Thank you to all of our volunteers for choosing to share your time and talent with us all. Make a difference, become a volunteer and/or Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads of Great Students)Social Emotional Learning
We teach the Kindness in the Classroom Curriculum (KiC) offered by the Random Acts of Kindness Foundation. It is a lesson-based approach to Social Emotional Learning (SEL) that is taught weekly by our Classroom Teachers. It is a Tier 1 evidence-based social emotional learning curriculum designed to create a culture of kindness.
Each unit teachers six core kindness concepts: Respect, Caring, Inclusiveness, Integrity, Responsibility and Courage.
We believe that what kids learn in the classroom matters wherever they are, including at home. The KiC curriculum was inspired by the idea that we all have the capacity for kindness and all of us can inspire and empower each other to change the world through our actions.
We encourage parents to learn and practice along side with their child's teacher and counselor, on the KiC curriculum to share in the growth of kindness in our society.
