      Points of Pride

Vista Hills Elementary School, home of the Crusaders, was built in 1977. Currently a Title One school with a student population of approximately 500 students, our school proudly serves students in Pre-Kinder through 5th grade. There is one bilingual section per grade level that serves our bilingual population. It is located off Lomaland and La Subida Dr.  The school colors are red, black, and white. We are a feeder school for Hanks Middle School and Hanks High School. Our campus goal is to develop the "whole child." Student success has always been a tradition here at Vista Hills.

Vista Hills Elementary was named a 2021 National Blue Ribbon School by the U.S. Secretary of Education, Miguel A. Cardona. The schools that receive this honor are selected based on overall academic achievement or on closing achievement gaps between subgroups. Vista Hills is both honored and humbled by this recognition.

Ysleta's EngageMe Initiative provided all 3rd through 5th-grade students with a Chromebook for instructional use. Vista Hills has taken that same initiative and provided all Pre-Kinder through 2nd-grade students with their own Chromebook. Students use Google Classroom to turn in the projects they have created using either Google Draw, Docs, Slides, or Sheets. Thus preparing our students for the 21st Century.

        Extracurricular Activities

Band, orchestra, and art are offered to students in 5th grade. For the past several years, these programs have received many awards, including superior ratings at band and orchestra competitions.

Vista Hills also offers numerous extracurricular activities beyond the classroom, such as volleyball, jump rope, robotics, eSports, gymnastics, cheer & dance, and choir.

        Volunteer Program

Here at Vista Hills, we encourage our parents and community to join in our amazing volunteer program to meet the needs of our students and campus.
