Points of Pride
Del Norte Heights offers the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) program to all students. We implement the EiE (Engineering in Elementary) hands-on approach to learning. Students apply their knowledge of science and math using the essence of engineering and art expanding their knowledge of technology. The curriculum has been designed to inspire the next generation of engineers, inventors and innovators.
Del Norte Heights Elementary School is the first recipient within the Ysleta ISD Elementary Schools to receive a CREST award. CREST stands for Counselors Reinforcing Excellence for Students in Texas. Schools receiving CREST awards have demonstrated a commitment using the school’s guidance and counseling program to improve the lives and achievement of students in academic, career, and personal social domains.
Del Norte Heights Elementary School was named Texas 2015 Honor Roll by Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). Schools receiving this distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
The vision of Ysleta ISD to go 1:1 with student laptops through the EngageMe Initiative along with our campus funds has provided each Del Norte Heights student, grades 2-6, a student laptop in the classroom. 10 iPads are assigned to each Kinder and 1st grade section.
Del Norte Heights Falcons student body can associate themselves with several groups/clubs within our campus:
Rachel’s Club addresses student safety where students spread acts of kindness throughout the campus and promote acceptance and belonging.
Falcon KITS, Kids Integrating Technology in School, allows students to explore technology concepts that help them in the classroom. These students also assist in electronically documenting campus events through our CCTV, school website and yearbook.
Falcon News Crew members create morning announcements that are prerecorded. They rotate jobs such as anchor person(s), weather, birthday announcers, and Words of Wisdom recorders. FNC students also take turns in producing and editing the videos.
