    Health Science

    Overview

Anatomy and Physiology provides students with the information needed to build upon allied health classes and clinical experiences. Students should not view this course as a hurdle to cross. As students jump across a hurdle, in essence, they return to the same level as they started before jumping. Anatomy and Physiology course is an early step on the ladder that represents their knowledge. Students may move successfully to the next rung when they have a solid footing on the rung below. Anatomy is the study of the structures associated with the human body. Physiology is the study of the function of each of these structures. The relationship between health care providers and patients is essential. Patients seek care because an organ or organ system is not functioning properly in their body. In order to treat them well, medical practitioners must first understand how the body functions when it is healthy.
