The Center for Health Professions at Bel Air HS is a health care professional preparation program offered to students throughout the El Paso County area.
Students must apply to our program. Those who are accepted can choose from seven available pathways where they will gain hands-on experience in a health care setting, and can obtain college credit and/or certification to work in a health care field right out of high school!

Dental Assistant Program

Overview
The Dental Program provides students with an exciting experience in the many fields of Dentistry. Students in the Dental Program will work side by side as team members with Dental Assistants, Dental Hygienists, and Dentists.
Hands-On Experience:
- Developing dental radiographs
- Setting-up treatment rooms with instruments
- Disinfection and sterilization
- Pourinfstudy models of teeth from plaster
- Work with different types of dental materials used in treating patients
- Students will be certified in cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR)
Certifications
- Dental students will be prepared to take the Texas State Board Exam to become a Registered Dental Assistant

Overview
We offer exceptional training and education that your child needs in order to be a successful candidate for Veterinary School. Bel Air Veterinary students have a great deal of training within the program from multiple clinic sites. Students are trained to be proficient in restraining animals, setting up equipment and supplies, cleaning and maintaining practice and laboratory facilities, feeding and exercising animals, obtain and record patient case histories, collect specimens and perform laboratory procedures, provide specialized nursing care, prepare animals, instruments and equipment for surgery assist in diagnostic, medical, and surgical procedures expose and develop radiographs (s-rays), advise and educate animals owners, supervise and train practice personnel.

Patient Care Technician (PCT)

Patient Care Technician or PCT is a 2-year program that begins during a student’s junior year and continues on into senior year. This program is for students who are interested in becoming doctors, nurses or any profession in healthcare.
Junior year students begin studying to become a Nursing Assistant in hopes of attaining their certification by the end of the year. The second semester of junior year they begin taking classes to potentially earn their EKG Technician certification in connection with EPCC.
Senior year they take classes to earn possibly earn their Phlebotomy Technician certification in connection with EPCC while continuing classes to earn their Patient Care Technician certification. While in this program they will be working closely with other health professions at local laboratories, long term care centers and hospitals for the clinical requirements per certification.
After completion of the program, passing certification exams and upon graduation from high school, students will have the opportunity to work as a PCT, EKG Technician, Phlebotomy Technician and/or a Certified Nursing Assistant in hospitals, clinics, doctor’s offices, or in the community.

Pharmacy Technician Program

Overview
The Pharmacy Technician Program is a 36-week instructional period including 180 hours of hands on externship experience at a local pharmacy. The objective of the program is to equip students with knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required to become an integral member in any pharmacy such as community, hospital, or clinical pharmacy. The program encourages active student participation, group discussions, group projects, laboratory work, simulations, demonstrations, and guest speakers. The program strongly focuses on patient safety, ethics, accountability, professionalism, and student commitment to pursue lifelong personal and professional development. Pharmacy Technicians play a crucial role in providing safe and effective patient care, with duties including but not limited to Receiving and interpreting prescriptions, Accurately measuring, labeling, and packing medications, Managing inventory, and entering patient data and processing insurance claims. Students who successfully complete the course and graduate are encouraged to sit for the Exam for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians (ExCPT) through the National Healthcareer Association (NHA).

Reaching realistic functional outcomes, and respecting the rights of individuals. In the state of Texas, to become a Physical Therapy tech requires 3 months to 1 year of the job training.

Emergency Medical Technician

The Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) program is a 36-week class consisting of both didactic and hands-on learning. The objective of the program is to equip students with knowledge, technical skills, and work habits required to become an integral member of an emergency medical team as an EMT-Basic (EMT-B). The EMT-B program encourages active student participation via hands-on experience and on the job training through clinical rotations in both the hospital emergency room and ambulance.
