YISD's Special Education Department recognizes, respects, and honors the diversity of our exceptional students and their families. Our purpose is to provide the leadership, services, and support that will enable learners to achieve their unique goals in inclusive school and community environments.
NOTICE—Special education students who were exempted by their ARD committees from taking or passing end-of-course exams as part of graduation requirements may be entitled to seek additional special education services despite having graduated, if presently under the age of 22. If interested, please contact the Special Education Office.
2022-2023 Updates in Special Education
The resources below have been created by the Student-Centered Transitions Network (SCTN) to assist educators and families with implementing quality transition services for students with disabilities. The Texas Transition & Employment Guide is available in English, Spanish, Korean, Vietnamese, and Chinese.
The Special Education Information Center (SPEDTX) provides resources and interactive features for increasing family awareness of disabilities and special education processes, with the goal of improving partnerships between schools and families.
