Bel Air High School 2022 Homecoming Celebration
Bel Air High School is proud to honor 2022 Honored Ex Dr. Jose Prieto Jr. (Class of 1976)
Dr. Jose Prieto, a dedicated and passionate El Paso pediatrician, never passes up the opportunity to talk about how proud he is to be a Highlander! Dr. Prieto pursued his undergraduate degree at Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and attended Stanford University Medical School, where he earned his medical degree in 1987. He completed his residency at Boston Children's Pediatric Hospital and returned to El Paso, where he has served our community for over 35 years.
Dr. Prieto not only tends to his patients in the clinic, but also conducts daily hospital visits and checkups. Every day, he treats his patients with the utmost care, offering extensive medical expertise, compassionate care, and understanding. Parents often express appreciation for Dr. Prieto's attention to detail and incomparable bedside manner, as many of them were his patients as children and now trust no one else to care for their children. Dr. Prieto is also deeply committed to El Pasoans seeking to pursue medicine. He generously allows students to shadow him in his practice, answers all their questions thoughtfully, and gives them the opportunity to sharpen and further explore their knowledge of the medical field.
Dr. Prieto embodies the mantra of being "college ready, career ready, and life ready." He strives to share that same message with young leaders in El Paso and motivates them to accomplish anything they set out for themselves. He is the embodiment of the Highlander motto, “Loyal Forever,” and is committed to giving back to the El Paso community through his care.
