East Point Wins Big at YISD VEX IQ Robotic Competition

East Point Elementary participated in the YISD VEX IQ Robotic Tournament on Saturday, January 25, 2020. Their team N.A.K, was the Robot Skills Champion and they also received the Excellence Award. They are now headed to the State competition held at UTEP on March 7, 2020.

VEX IQ Challenge Squared Away is played on a 4’x8’ rectangular field where two robots compete in the Teamwork Challenge as an alliance in 60-second long teamwork matches, working collaboratively to score points.

Teams also compete in the Robot Skills Challenge where one robot takes the field to score as many points as possible. These matches consist of Driving Skills Matches, which is entirely driver-controlled, and Programming Skills Matches, which is autonomous with limited human interaction.

The Excellence Award is the highest award presented in the VEX Robotics Competition. This award is presented to a team that exemplifies overall excellence in building a high-quality VEX Robotics program.

The Robot Skills Champion is awarded to the team with the highest combined programming and driving skills challenge score.
