On Tuesday, September 17, 2019, Dr. De La Torre visited North Star to present the school with a banner to celebrate the six out of six distinction designations by the Texas Education Agency. Students, faculty, and staff held a rally to celebrate this great accomplishment. 

North Star is one of four YISD elementary campuses to obtain this honor.
