YISD provides breakfast and lunch to go during closure

UPDATE: (effective June 3, 2020)

The Ysleta Independent School District is ceasing its Grab & Go school meal service at five campuses due to the start of campus construction projects and/or declining numbers of family participation.

The last day for Grab & Go meals at Capistrano Elementary School, Ramona Elementary School, and Tierra Del Sol Elementary School was Friday, May 29. However, families in these neighborhoods can instead participate in the Grab & Go program from the nearby sites of Ysleta High School (8600 Alameda Ave. 79907), Constance Hulbert Elementary School (7755 Franklin Dr. 79915), and Hanks High School (2001 Lee Trevino 79935).

On Friday, June 5, the Grab & Go meal service will end at Bel Air High School and Parkland Middle School. Once again, families are encouraged to visit the following campuses instead to receive Grab & Go meals for their children: Bel Air Middle School (7909 Ranchland Drive 79915) and Parkland High School (5932 Quail Lane 79924).

From June 8-25, Ysleta ISD will provide its 2020 Grab & Go Summer Food Service at 13 sites to coincide with the district’s S2TAY@Home virtual summer school. During the summer break, Grab & Go meals will be distributed from 7:30 to 11 a.m. Monday through Thursday for children under 18 at the following 13 sites: Effective Monday, June 29, the Grab and Go Meal Service at Eastwood High School will temporarily be redirected to Eastwood Middle School.

  • Hacienda Heights ES
  • REL Washington IS
  • Desertaire ES
  • Constance Hulbert ES
  • Bel Air MS
  • Del Valle MS
  • Eastwood MS
  • Del Valle HS
  • Eastwood HS

  • Hanks HS
  • Parkland HS
  • Riverside HS
  • Ysleta HS

On Thursdays, children will receive an extra breakfast and lunch meal for Friday. Children do not need to be inside the vehicle to receive a meal. However, drivers MUST provide one of the following items to receive school meals for children who are not present:

  • Official letter/email/electronic school application from school that lists child(ren) enrolled;
  • Individual student report card(s);
  • Attendance record from YISD Home Access Center, printed or electronic, that includes names of child(ren);
  • Birth certificate for child(ren) not in school; or
  • Student ID card(s)

Families that previously provided this documentation were issued a Windshield Card as part of the Grab & Go program; they continue to use the Windshield Card to pick up school meals during the Summer Food Service program.

Although the Summer Food Service Program ends June 25, Ysleta ISD plans to continue offering the Grab & Go meal service because it has a waiver from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to serve school meals into July, officials said.
