17 YISD schools named to Texas Honor Roll

Seventeen campuses in the Ysleta Independent School District have been named to the 2019-2020 Texas Honor Roll – the most of any school district in the El Paso region – for their high levels of student achievement, academic progress over time, college readiness, or reductions in achievement gaps among student populations.

Over the past four years, Ysleta ISD has seen a dramatic increase in the number of schools being named to the Texas Honor Roll – from three schools in 2017 to 17 schools in 2020.

The Texas Honor Roll, presented by Educational Results Partnership (ERP), is part of a national effort to identify higher-performing schools and districts that are improving student outcomes.

The Honor Roll is the only school recognition program in the state that exclusively uses student achievement outcomes as the criteria. It is a growing resource for all schools to learn about best practices that increase student achievement, ERP officials said.

“We are incredibly proud of all 17 of our Texas Honor Roll campuses for consistently demonstrating  innovative instruction and leadership, which are critical factors in moving the academic needle for our students,” said Ysleta ISD Superintendent Dr. Xavier De La Torre. “This recognition once again proves that our leading-edge approach to public education is not only yielding high academic achievement, but setting a high standard for the entire El Paso region.”

ERP is a nonprofit organization that applies data science to help improve student outcomes and career readiness. It maintains the nation’s largest database on student achievement and utilizes this data to identify higher-performing schools and districts.
