In preparation for the upcoming 2021-22 academic year, the Ysleta Independent School District is announcing the appointment of two new department directors who will provide leadership and expertise at Central Office.
Richard Couder, former college readiness facilitator at El Paso ISD, has been appointed as Ysleta ISD’s Director of College Readiness, effective July 13.
Couder began his career in education in 2009 as a teacher, and later served as a college readiness advisor and facilitator. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Political Science from St. Edward’s University and a master’s degree in Public Administration from Texas State University.
In addition, Ysleta ISD has appointed Martin Segovia, its current assistant athletic director, to serve as the new Director of Athletics, effective July 19.
Segovia began his career in education 1995 as a social studies and physical education teacher in Garden City, Kansas. He has also served as a teacher, family literacy liaison, coach, assistant principal, adjunct professor, and assistant athletic director.
Segovia earned a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Nebraska at Kearney and a master’s degree in Science from Kansas State University.
