The Riverside Middle School Rebellion Robotics program was asked to showcase and present at the El Paso Water Utilities TecH2O DiscoverE 2020 Family Event. As part of National Engineers Week, the goal of DiscoverE was to inspire students by celebrating engineers and hope that one day young people will also help to innovate our future. There were many hands on demonstrations and projects designed to engage students of all ages in the wonders of engineering.
The Rebellion Robotics teams brought out all of their robots, awards, competition fields, tools, and spare parts to show the public what is involved in being part of this program. Visitors were presented with information about this year’s VEX IQ Squared Away Challenge and The Rebellions approach to being competitive at their competitions. Parents and kids alike were given the opportunity to drive the robots and try their hand at what competition feels like. Teams 22401B and 22401D also put on various match demonstrations to show the public what timed competition matches are actually like. Every Rebellion Robotics team member got a chance to present their roles and responsibilities to visitors. Rebellion team members presented on driving strategy, design process, the awards they have received, the tools they 3D print, support roles, communicating with other teams on competition day, and various other topics.
The event had a huge turnout and The Rebellion Robotics program had a constant flow of visitors throughout the entire day. We are very proud of you Rebellion! Good luck at Regionals!
