Ysleta congratulates students for winning the Texas SkillsUSA competition

Ysleta is proud to congratulate high school students Alyssa Voight from Bel Air, Alyssa Nichole Hernandez from Eastwood, and Martin Alvarado from Riverside, who recently placed first at the Texas SkillsUSA competition in Career Pathways Arts and Audio-Visual Communication. Held in Corpus Christi, this state championship was part of the annual SkillsUSA conference, where over 6000 talented career and technical education students competed in 100 different trade, technical, and leadership fields.

During the state SkillsUSA competition, students work against the clock and each other, proving their expertise in occupations such as electronics, computer-aided drafting, precision machining, medical assistance, and culinary arts. All contests are run with the help of industry, trade associations, and labor organizations, testing competencies set by the industry. In addition, leadership contestants demonstrated their skills, which included extemporaneous speaking and conducting meetings by parliamentary procedure

The next competition will be the SkillsUSA National Leadership and Skills Conference to be held in Atlanta, Georgia from June 19-24, 2023.
