Bel Air Law Enforcement Border Challenge-Battle of the Badges

This Saturday, Febpurary 25th, the Law Enforcement Club participated in the annual Border Challenge-Battle of the Badges event. This year's competition included all the high schools in the Ysleta school district, Montwood, Pebble Hills, Santa Teresa-NM, Mountain View, and Horizon high schools in individual and team forensic science and tactical events.

We took 21 students to the competition, and all of them placed.

As usual, your Bel Air Forensic Science teams shined bright in the following events, once again keeping alive a streak that extends over ten years:

1st Place
Blood Splatter Analysis
Crime Scene Investigation

2nd place
Hair and Fiber Analysis

Your Tactical Team participated in a newly designed event called Domestic Terrorism. This was set as a 12–18-person Active Shooter, Improvised Explosive Device, and Hostage Negotiation event. The event was a complex scenario that included multiple victims, active suspects, and different forms of explosive devices. The scenario was designed by a former Explosives Ordinance Explosives (EOD) technician. Not only did your tactical team come in 1st Place, but they also beat the 2nd place team by a point differential of over 100 points! Additionally, your tactical took 2nd Place in Felony Traffic Stop and was the only all-girl team.

We also participated in two fire firefighting events:

2nd Place
Search and Rescue

3rd Place
Bunker Gear

If you have any team members in your classes, please congratulate them for a job well done!
