Eastwood High School 2023 Homecoming Celebration
Congratulations to Ryan Omohundro, 2023 Eastwood High School Honored Ex from the class of 2001!
Ryan Omohundro was born and raised on the east side of El Paso by his mother Lydia, an East Point Elementary School teacher and his late-father Jim Omohundro, an El Paso police officer. He graduated from Eastwood High School, class of 2001. During his time at EHS, he was captain and 4-year letterman for the track and cross country teams, finished Valedictorian, and nominated Mr. Blue and Gold.
He left El Paso to study accounting and finance at the University of Texas at Austin. During his time at UT, he walked on to the Division I cross country team, earned a bachelor in business administration and masters in professional accounting – graduating with Highest Honors, and, most importantly meeting his lovely wife, Emily.
For the last 20 years, Ryan has lived in Houston, Texas where he has built a career serving as a financial advisor to distressed companies who are in need of dire assistance. Last year, Ryan was recognized as part of the “40 Under 40” by the American Bankruptcy Institute for his professional achievements.
Outside of his work as a restructuring consultant, Ryan is the proud dad of his two children, Evie and Mac. He has a passion for entrepreneurship and has funded over 30 start-up ventures and businesses across Texas.
Ryan’s life changed his freshman year at EHS, when his father died at 45 due to injuries sustained as a police officer, which led him to pour himself into distance running.
In his father’s honor, Ryan and Emily established a nonprofit, The Jim Omohundro Courage Memorial and Courageous Leadership Award & Scholarship, partnering with Coach McLain and Coach Ayala in the support of the Eastwood Running Club, Track and Cross Country teams.
The Memorial was established to give back to the El Paso community while recognizing achievements in courageous leadership, competition, and dedication. The Memorial sponsors local races, assists in travel costs for Eastwood Running Club, Track and Cross country teams to attend national meets, and awards $10,000 scholarships to deserving Eastwood seniors for their outstanding leadership on and off the track.
