Marching Matadors

The Parkland Matador Band's 2019 Marching Show Production is entitled: Strings Attached.

Musical selections include: Mr. Roger's Won't You Be My Neighbor, Hungarian Dance No. 5, Master of Puppets by Metallica, Bring Me To Life by Evanescence, and Aha! by Imogen Heap.

This years theme is based on puppets and marionettes. The following is a description of our show concept and story line.

Pre-Show: Puppet Master introducing control over puppets. "It's a beautiful day in this neighborhood" to be a puppet, and "won't you be mine" is a theme of this movement.  The puppets have no mind of their own, and are happily being controlled by the puppet masters.

1st Movement: Puppets are "obeying" the "Master of Puppets" and following all of their orders.

2nd Movement: Puppets have realized that they are being controlled, and finally realize that they want to be "brought to life"

3rd Movement: Puppets begin to rebel against the puppet masters, and finally overthrow them with a "gotcha" "aha!" ending.

This year the Parkland Matador Band has gone above and beyond with their efforts to put the best musical and visual program on the field. The band has received Division 1 ratings at both the EPISD Marching Invitational and UIL Region Marching Contest. This year in itself has already been history making for the program as they have finished as a Class A SISD Marchfest Finalist for the first time in the history of the program, and now currently sit as the 4th ranked band in the 5A Classification.

The Parkland Matador Band now moves on to the Area Competition in Odessa, TX this Saturday October 26th, 2019 where they will compete against 20 other bands for the top 4 spots. The top 4 bands of this contest will earn the distinguished title of 2019 Texas All State Marching Band.

The Matador Band has a great chance of advancing this year and we wish them the absolute best of luck on their competitive season.

Way to go Parkland Matador Band and Congratulations on your many accomplishments and wonderful 2019 Marching Show Production!
