PHS Hosts YISD Cheer Camp!

Over the weekend of July 23, the Parkland Cheerleading Program welcomed Hanks and Eastwood high school to participate in cheer camp, hosted by the Universal Cheerleading Association. All teams came together to prepare for this school year by learning dances, cheers, and stunts. The Parkland JV and Varsity squads both earned superior trophies for their strong performances throughout the weekend. During camp, cheerleaders had the opportunity to tryout for All American cheerleader, a top award earned by a small group of cheerleaders across the country! If selected for All American Cheerleader, these students earn the opportunity to perform at special events across the country, such as the Thanksgiving and Holiday parades in Walt Disney World! Celeste Duarte (Sophomore) and Marlett Prieto (Sophomore) were selected as Junior Varsity All American Cheerleaders. Senior cheerleaders Natalie Facio, Tianna Lenoir, Cassie Marron, and Mia Soto were selected as Varsity All American Cheerleaders. After camp was finished, several senior Parkland cheerleaders were invited to join the UCA staff for next summer! Congratulations Natalie Facio, Tianna Lenoir, Mia Soto, and Elizabeth Valdez on your accomplishment! Later this season, the Parkland Cheerleaders will compete in the UIL Spirit Competition that takes place in Forth Worth, Texas.
