Eastwood High School Class of 2022
The Eastwood High School Class of 2022 graduated a total of 534 students on June 5th.
Eastwood High School's Valedictorian is Thomas Longhu Moore. His passion for knowledge and thirst for the unknown has driven him to be the top performing student in his class. His dedication to his endeavors is outstanding and his drive to succeed will certainly take him places, including Rice University, and even further. Yet, despite being at the top, he is always more than willing to lend a caring hand to his peers in need, as a friend and as a mentor.
His list of accolades preceded him. His hard work and dedication culminated in his advancing to the UIL State Mathematics Meet in Austin, where he placed 16th out of 28–the first individual from Eastwood to advance to State in calculator since 1984. His numerous awards and scholarships only give a glimpse of all that this young man has accomplished in his four years at Eastwood.
Mr. Harmon, his beloved math teacher and coach, says this of this student, “In my 32 years of teaching, I have never worked with an individual with such an acute sense of mathematical understanding and the drive to learn all that is possible.”
The Eastwood High School's Salutatorian is Ava Bui Lee. She is a hard worker who makes sure to give her all in everything she accomplishes, and inspires those around her to do the same. This young lady took on high school with a determined outlook, but always managed to stay kind-hearted and humble. She will be attending the University of California at Irvin.
Her passion and personality came through in her amazing performances as part of Eastwood’s Saltatrix Dance Team. Her coach, Ms. Magaña had nothing but kind words, “She continuously pushes herself to be the best version of herself, but what is really inspirational is how she pushes those alongside her to do their best as well. She is an inspiration to all, including myself. Demonstrating what an exemplary trooper is.” This student continued to make impressions across campus as part of the Chinese National Honor Society, National Honor Society, Math Team, and Speech and Debate.
