Monochromatic Art Project

Monochromatic Painting

Art 1 students were introduced to the basic elements used by artists in creating art. One of the most dominant elements of art is color. Color is created by light and students studied color properties, hue, intensity and value. Students created a monochromatic painting using one hue (color) and modified the intensity and value by using tints and shades. Students were able to mix paint in different percentages to accomplish the desired shade from light to dark. A silhouette of their choice was added to create a more interesting composition. That is how students initiated their art fundamentals and understanding of color theory.
