Engage Me Initiative YISD has implemented an aggressive shift in culture through the ENGAGE ME! initiative. Teachers transform learning opportunities for students, ensuring rigorous, creative learning focused on depth and increased academic achievement pre-kindergarten (PK) through grade twelve (12).

The district employs a train the trainer professional development model focused on seamlessly implementing the 4Cs: creativity, critical thinking, collaboration, and communication. Rich learning opportunities that leverage 21st century tools, resources and methods are encouraged and supported at all levels.

Many resources for learning are cloud-based and available 24/7 for just in time and extended day learning. Blended and/or personalized learning for students is becoming the norm, with teachers using data and also allowing for student choice in path, place and pace. YISD currently provides devices for 24/7 learning with one-to-one (1:1) access in grades 3-8. High schools are being provided a number of devices that will allow students to check them out from their campus library. High school students are also allowed to bring their own device (BYOD) to use, with teacher permission, for educational purposes.
