The Ysleta Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of James McIntyre as the new principal of Bel Air High School, effective June 1.

The campus hosted a special ceremony Tuesday afternoon to announce and welcome McIntyre to the Highlander community.

McIntyre, who is currently serving as principal at Loma Terrace Elementary School, began his 21-year career in education at Ysleta ISD as a fifth-grade dual-language teacher. He later went on to serve as an assistant principal at both the elementary and middle school levels, as well as principal at the elementary level.

Under McIntyre’s leadership, Loma Terrace Elementary School earned an “A” rating from the Texas Education Agency and numerous distinctions in academics, growth, and postsecondary readiness. He also previously served as a football and softball coach at Bel Air High School for four years.

McIntyre holds a bachelor’s degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a master’s degree in Education, both from the University of Texas at El Paso (UTEP).
