Ysleta ISD is proud to announce that 10 students from five high schools have been awarded scholarships from the FirstLight Community Foundation!
This year, $50,000 was awarded to 35 students from more than 50 high schools in El Paso, Fort Bliss, and Las Cruces. Out of 720 applicants, we’re proud to recognize 10 of our students among the winners – they are:
· Danielle Castillo J.M Hanks High School
· Maya Covey Eastwood High School
· Jayden Delgado Eastwood High School
· Timothy Haggerty Bel Air High School
· Maya Holguin Young Women's Leadership Academy
· Jovana Martinez Parkland High School
· Brooke Navidomskis Eastwood High School
· Jayden Puga-Huerta Eastwood High School
· Marco Ramos Eastwood High School
· Michael Salado Eastwood High School
Instead of the traditional paper-driven scholarship application model, FirstLight Community Foundation partnered with Paso del Norte Community Foundation and Kaleidoscope to drive a Gen Z-friendly online experience. Also, instead of a written essay, students were able to upload videos answering how the scholarship would benefit them, their family, and their community.
