Honored Ex Luis Torres

Del Valle High School is proud to honor the 2025 Honored Ex, Luis A. Torres, from the Class of 1990. Luis was among the first graduates of Del Valle High School and participated in nearly every club available at the time, including Student Council, National Honor Society, Future Business Leaders of America (FBLA), serving as the Del Valle Mascot, and as a yell leader, among others.

His most notable accomplishment as a Conquistador was his contribution to Del Valle’s Texas Future Business Leaders of America Chapter. As the Area II Vice President of FBLA, he united both the El Paso and Ysleta Independent School Districts in a way that had never been done before. He later went on to become the Texas State FBLA President—the first student from El Paso to hold that position—placing our El Paso community in the spotlight.

After graduating from Del Valle in 1990, Luis continued his education at the United States Air Force Academy, earning a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Engineering in 1995 and graduating with his commission as a Second Lieutenant in the U.S. Air Force.

Following his active-duty service, Luis earned a Master of Business Administration in Finance from Wright State University and began a successful career in Corporate America, holding various positions with Johnson & Johnson.

In November 2024, Luis began his next professional chapter as a business consultant and later earned a Master’s in Pastoral Studies from St. Thomas University. His calling to the Permanent Diaconate Program of the Catholic Diocese of El Paso came in 2021, and he was ordained a Deacon in January 2025.

Luis has now been married to his high school sweetheart for more than 30 years. They have three children: Mario, an Eastwood High School and University of North Texas graduate, and twin daughters, Natalia and Isabel, who followed in their father’s footsteps by graduating from Del Valle High School (Class of 2021) and the University of North Texas. The family now resides in Arlington, Texas.
