2 student artists win 1st, 2nd in county contest

Congratulations to Eastwood High School sophomore Novalie Leone Fortenbery and Alicia Chacon International School sixth-grader Zoe Tarango for being named among the county’s top sticker-design contest winners!

The El Paso County Elections Department invited local elementary and high school students to showcase their creativity and promote civic engagement through the annual Sticker Design Contest. The “Future Voter” category was open to elementary school students, and the “I Voted” category was open to high school students.

Novalie won first place among all high-school entries for her “I Voted” sticker design, and her sticker will be distributed to all voters during the 2026 election season. Zoe won second place in the “Future Voter” category for her design.

“This year, we received 162 submissions compared to the 68 submissions for the last midterm election year,” said Lisa Wise, El Paso County Elections Administrator. “We are grateful for the students who take the time to share their beautiful art with us and the teachers who continue to encourage their students to participate.”

All first-, second-, and third-place winners will be honored and recognized by the El Paso County Commissioners Court on Monday, Dec. 8. Congratulations to these talented artists!
