Sergio Silva, a 4th-grade teacher at Scotsdale Elementary School, is being honored this month with the 2026 UTEP College of Education Lavis Excellence Award for his exceptional talents in mentorship and teaching.
This award recognizes extraordinary mentor teachers who demonstrate outstanding teaching and provide exceptional guidance to UTEP teacher candidates. As a dedicated mentor, Mr. Silva has made a significant impact by fostering positive, meaningful relationships that inspire and support the next generation of educators.
In recognition of his excellence, Mr. Silva will receive a $2,500 award from the UTEP College of Education. Ysleta ISD proudly celebrates Mr. Silva’s achievement and commends his continued dedication to empowering both students and future teachers.
