Eastwood Wrestling

For the third time in four years, the Eastwood High School girls wrestling team dominated their peers across the state and brought home the gold at the UIL 6A state wrestling meet in February. This is the third girls wrestling state championship in three years for the Lady Troopers, who had three wrestlers place in the top three at the state meet in their respective weight classes and collected 82.5 team points. In addition, the Bel Air High School girls wrestling team captured the bronze medal at the state championship meet for the first time in recent history.

 

Three Bel Air and Eastwood High School boys and girls wrestlers also captured either gold or silver medals in their weight classes at the state meet; they are:

 

Gold medalists (State Champions):

Cydney Davis (152-pound class, Bel Air HS) *three-time state champion

Hailey Delgado (110-pound class, Eastwood HS) *two-time state champion

Hector Ortiz (106-pound class, Eastwood HS)

 

Silver medalists:

Olivia Ontiveros (125-pound class, Bel Air HS)
