Juan Guzman

The Ysleta Independent School District is pleased to announce the appointment of Juan Guzman as the new principal of Alicia R. Chacon International School. Guzman currently serves as principal of Scotsdale Elementary School, and brings a wealth of experience, leadership, and commitment to student success.

Guzman began his professional career at Scotsdale Elementary School as a Special Education teacher, and has since served the district in a variety of instructional and leadership roles, including as a special education and general education teacher and assistant principal at Glen Cove Elementary School, where he served for four years.

He later served as principal at Tierra Del Sol Elementary School before returning to Scotsdale Elementary School, where he has spent the last seven years as principal. Under his leadership, the campus has experienced significant success and has maintained an A rating for several consecutive years, reflecting his strong focus on academic excellence, student achievement, and positive campus culture.

Throughout his career, Guzman has remained committed to supporting students, staff, and families while fostering high expectations and meaningful educational opportunities for all learners.

Guzman holds a bachelor’s degree in interdisciplinary studies and a master’s degree, both from UTEP.
