To support our families and boost student success, students at every pre-K center, elementary school, and middle school in Ysleta ISD will enjoy free breakfast and lunch meals every school day in the upcoming year, which begins Monday, Aug. 3.
All Ysleta ISD students enjoy free breakfast at the campus – and through the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Community Eligibility Provision (CEP), nearly 90% of YISD campuses (43 in total) will also automatically provide free lunch to students in 2026-27, including four specialty campuses, two high schools, and two-pre-K centers. Additionally, students at YISD’s five non-CEP schools – Bel Air, Del Valle, Eastwood, Hanks, and Parkland high schools – who qualify for reduced-price lunch meals will instead eat school lunch for free this year, thanks to state funding provided by the 89th Texas Legislature under the General Appropriations Act.
Parents whose children attend a CEP school do NOT have to fill out a lunch application. However, at the five non-CEP campuses, parents MUST fill out a lunch application, which can be found at the following link: https://www.myschoolapps.com/Home/DistrictRedirect/YsletaISD_TX?langid=1
“I commend the Texas Legislature for removing obstacles that prevent children from accessing healthy school meals,” said Texas Department of Agriculture (TDA) Commissioner Sid Miller. “Free and reduced-price school meals will open the door for more children to receive nutritious foods that support academic success.”
The CEP program is available to districts, schools, or groups of schools in high-poverty areas to automatically provide free breakfast and lunch to all students due to the high percentage of those who qualified for free school meals in the previous year. TDA administers the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Programs in Texas. For details, Ysleta ISD’s Child Nutrition Services Department may be reached at (915) 434-0120.
