Points of Pride
Edgemere Elementary School is continuing a tradition of excellence that started when it opened its doors in 1963. Last year, the school earned five out of five possible distinctions from the Texas Education Agency, including distinctions in academic achievement in both reading and science.
Edgemere was also one of ten Ysleta ISD schools named to the Texas 2015 Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). Schools receiving this award have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps among student populations.
Edgemere provides dual language options for students starting in kindergarten which will teach them to be bilingual in English and Spanish. Our dual language students also receive daily Chinese instruction.
Edgemere offers many clubs and after-school programs for our students including folklorico dance, double dutch and chess. We also hold many events for our families and community members throughout the school year.
Edgemere Elementary Vision Statement: Edgemere Elementary, a professional learning community, will ensure the academic, social and physical development of all students in a safe and respectful environment.
