Points of Pride
Scotsdale Elementary was built in August 1958 and is located on the East side of El Paso. The school colors are blue and white with the school mascot being a Cadet. Scotsdale Elementary is a feeder school for Eastwood Middle and Eastwood High School. The student population is diverse and consists of about 850 students being serviced in grades Pre-Kinder through Sixth grade. Scotsdale Elementary is driven by a faculty dedicated to student success, with the attitude that "Failure Is Not an Option."
Scotsdale is one of ten Ysleta ISD schools named to the Texas 2015 Honor Roll by the Educational Results Partnership (ERP) and the Institute for Productivity in Education (IPE). Schools receiving this distinction have demonstrated consistent high levels of student academic achievement, improvement in achievement levels over time and reduction in achievement gaps between student populations.
Scotsdale attained Five out of Six Distinctions for the 2016 -2017 school year for STAAR testing in ELA/Reading, Mathematics, Science, Top 25% closing the performance gap and Postsecondary Readiness.
Scotsdale Extracurricular Activities
Scotsdale Elementary hosts extracurricular activities for students. The Kindness Club is sponsored by our school counselors, Mrs. Tellez and Mrs. Spencer. Each week the counselors work on teaching club members about the importance of spreading kindness around the campus. Students work on special projects throughout the year such as positive reinforcement notes for students and staff. This year they organized Valenkind week and presented a "Peace Rally" for students in grades 3 - 6. The Kindness Club works hard at making Scotsdale a great and safe place to learn.
Our librarian, Ms. Franco sponsors the Library Club. Students learn what it takes to keep a library operating. Students help Ms. Franco check books in and out to other students after school, which is the busiest time of day for the library. They also assist with special projects and keeping the shelves fully stocked for the next school day. This club meets on Wednesdays from 2:45-3:30 PM.
Ms. Duchene sponsors the Robotics Club at Scotsdale, as well as a robotics team, Cadetrons. Cadetrons competed in VEX IQ tournaments during the 2019-2020 school year. They won numerous awards and titles throughout the season, including a STEM research project, and ultimately led them to compete in a world championship tournament in Kentucky.
