Points of Pride
Loma Terrace Elementary has been a staple in the Ysleta Independent School District for over 60 years. Loma Terrace has highly qualified teachers and offers Pre-K through 6th grade monolingual and dual-language education. Loma Terrace is headed by the excellent leadership of Principal, Mr. Alejandro Armendariz and Assistant Principal, Mrs. Sandra Nava.
Strong Core Curriculum
Loma Terrace Elementary School has a strong core curriculum in the areas of language arts, science, social studies, and math. Students are taught art, music, and physical education weekly by teachers trained and certified in those areas. Students attend monthly classes in Project Based Learning which involves a dynamic classroom approach where students acquire a deeper knowledge through active exploration of real-world challenges and problems. 5th and 6th grade students are offered band, orchestra, or art as an elective. Students also receive regular opportunities for instruction in the school's excellent library and technology lab.
Our campus also offers our students additional ways to be involved in learning, leadership, and community service. Clubs such as Robotics, Kindness, Chess, Library, and Student Council are offered once a week after school. Gifted and talented students attend regular Team Quest competitions. 5th and 6th graders have the opportunity to be in Loma Terrace's undefeated basketball team, where they recently won the Championship.
Engage Me Initiative
Through the Engage Me Initiative, 3rd-6th grade students were each provided with a Chrome book that is used for extended learning, helping our Lions to prepare them with the essential 21st century skills. Loma Terrace teachers are utilizing Google Classroom to set up classes, invite students and co-teachers, where they can share information, assignments, and communicate.
