Here at East Point, we believe in fostering a community where every student and family feels valued, supported, and understood. A cornerstone of this commitment is our unwavering dedication to the military families who enrich our school with their unique experiences, resilience, and patriotism. Living in El Paso, Texas, with Fort Bliss in our beautiful city, we are particularly aware of the incredible contributions and sacrifices made by our service members and their families.
We understand that military life presents distinct challenges – frequent moves, deployments, and the constant balancing act of duty and family life. To the brave men and women who serve our country, and to the spouses, children, and extended family members who stand beside them, we want to extend our deepest gratitude: Thank you for your service. Your dedication to our nation does not go unnoticed, and we are profoundly grateful for the sacrifices you make to keep us safe.
At East Point, we strive to be a beacon of support for our military families. We recognize that stability and a nurturing environment are crucial for students whose lives may involve more transitions than most. Here's how we endeavor to support our military families:
Dedicated Point of Contact: We have a designated staff member, our school counselor, Mrs. Soto, who serves as a primary point of contact for military families. This individual is readily available to answer questions, provide resources, and help navigate any school-related concerns that may arise due to military life.
Welcoming & Seamless Transitions: We have streamlined our enrollment process to make transitions as smooth as possible for students arriving from other bases or regions. We work closely with families to ensure their child's academic records are seamlessly transferred and that they quickly feel at home in their new classrooms.
Understanding & Flexibility: We understand that deployments and trainings can sometimes impact family schedules and student attendance. We are committed to working with military families with understanding and flexibility, providing support and resources to ensure students don't fall behind during challenging times.
Connecting Families: We actively work to create opportunities for our military families to connect with one another. Whether through dedicated coffee mornings, parent-teacher group events, or a military family club, we aim to build a strong network of support and camaraderie.
Celebrating Military Children: We proudly acknowledge and celebrate the unique strengths of our military children. During Month of the Military Child in April, by recognizing them in assemblies, or through special projects. We aim to create an environment where they feel understood and their experiences are valued.
Resource Navigation: We provide access to a wealth of local and national resources specifically designed to support military families, from academic assistance to counseling services and community programs.
Our commitment to our military families is more than just a policy; it's a deeply held value that reflects our respect for their service and sacrifice. We are incredibly proud to have military children and families as an integral part of the East Point community.
If you are a military family considering East Point or are currently part of our school community, please know that we are here for you. We welcome your questions, feedback, and partnership as we work together to ensure your child thrives.
Thank you again for your service. We are honored to serve you.
Warmly,
The East Point Team
