Career Day Brings Big Surprises to Elementary School!
Career Day at the Tierra del Sol was a thrilling and educational experience for our students. Thank you to Mrs. Mata, our school counselor, who invited an impressive lineup of guests from several public service departments. Representatives from Homeland Security, Border Patrol, the local Police Department, the Fire Department, and U.S. Customs spoke with students about their vital roles in keeping communities safe.
The highlight of the day came when a Homeland Security helicopter made a special landing on school grounds, capturing the attention and awe of students and staff alike. The helicopter crew gave students a close-up look at the aircraft and explained how it is used during operations.
Each agency set up interactive stations where students could explore equipment, ask questions, and learn more about the responsibilities and tools involved in each career. From trying on firefighter gear to exploring a police cruiser, students gained hands-on insights into the world of public service.
This event inspires students and helps them see the real-world impact of these important careers. Career Day broadened students’ horizons and sparked curiosity about future possibilities.
